I will answer the first part of your question since nobody has answered it
Yes
[Scriptural Evidence] Volume 7, Book 62, Number 64: Sahih Bukhari [the most venerated and authentic Islamic source]
Narrated 'Aisha: that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years (until his death).
Interestingly
In Iran as of June 2002 it is legal for a 9 year old girl to marry with her parents’ permission.

I saw this too on here, don't listen to anything on the internet. What do these silly bigoted people know about Islam, they don't like Muslims because of the whole media hype and they think because they read something on the internet it is fact and they then think they can keep spreading it until everyone believes it.
I asked my mum, she said that it is true that Prophet Mohammed married a younger girl but he was not much older than her, he was engaged to her at 9 years old ( that was the culture back then in Arabia) it happens in alot of Asian countries where to children are betrothed to get married later but back then it was decided that a young girl reaches a marriageable age when she starts menstruating( I hate saying this kind of thing!) so she did at 13 or something so they were married.
We don't know anything about what was appropriate back then so we can't judge with todays standards. In the Victorian and Edwardian times in England similar things used to happen and Mohammed was centuries before that!
Funny how people have just realised this now after 9/11 when this book is centuries old.

There is a lot of bizarre statements in the Koran. Any time Mohammed wanted to add some spice to his sex life, ll he had to do was to was raid another town or caravan for female slaves, or buy some, and his God would approve. So for Muhammed there was no limit what he could do. He just added something to Koran.
There are so many honorable Muslims in this world with much higher moral standards and values than their own self claimed prophet had.

Read the book "The Truth About Muhammad" by Michael Spencer.
It is well researched and written. All the facts came from all Muslims way back in history.
