I believe salvation is by grace through your ability to apply what you know. Paul spoke of inner works, applying what you know, or he wouldve never insisted that people live a spiritual life and become spiritual and rise above their baser organic consciousness, or he would've never said things such as this,

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. (Romas 8:5-9)

“Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature” (Col 3:5 NIV) - inner work of living a consecrated life for transformation to support higher spiritual truth and discernment.

In James letter it specifically says that faith without works is dead, that your faith without applying knowledge toward the ideal is impossible. Grace is in your ability to not appease to the challenges and circustances, but apply what you have where you are at, that is all that is asked of you.

your pastor sucks and doesn't know what he is talking about if he doesn't understand Paul's thoughts on living spiritual btw.

First of all, all these people are talking about faith and all that stuff, this question is about Salvation . . .
Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
By God's GRACE we are forgiven from our sins.
Through FAITH in Christ, we live a life pleasing and glorifying to Him,
Through CHRIST alone. It is only through Christ that we are saved.

The person who quoted James 2:24 is taking the verse out of context (that IRRITATES me to death!) the verse says. . . . "You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only" that is the last part of a chapter that talks about the OT "heroes" and how their works proved their faith. Yes, faith w/out works is dead, but this is about Salvation!

That's what the Bible says .....so yes.Paul said,"You are saved by grace through faith,it is the gift of God and not by works least anyman boast".
God offers you a gift, you accept it by faith.A gift can't be earned, otherwise it is not a gift. The gift is eternal life by believing the Gospel. The Gospel is...Jesus was the Virgin born Son of God who died for our sins ,was buried and rose on the third day for our justification.
Accept it ,and thank God for the gift!
We have works ,but works are because you are saved not to get saved.
When James says "Show me your faith and I'll show you my works",he means that if you really are saved good works will come out of you like fruit on a good tree.

Salvation is by grace alone. Faith isn't part of it. That's the point of saying it is by grace alone. Nothing we do or don't do gets us salvation. It is God who grants salvation and we can't earn salvation without God's grace.

How would something that in no way existed make that achievable? The bible is what's called "Faction" A fictional tale set in a authentic time and position. therefore the time, position and actual historic characters are all maximum impressive even with the undeniable fact that the fictitious characters and thoughts are not to any extent further! there isn't any longer one unmarried aspect out of Jesus contained in the entire Roman list - that's ideal - no longer one! at the same time as he replaced into meant to were round there have been particularly some Jews claiming to be the messiah - all of whom are nicely recorded! there isn't any longer a unmarried modern-day list from any source or maybe the bible mentions of him like various different references were no longer written till many years after his meant lack of existence! He replaced into meant to were an excellent problem to the Romans and produced impressive miracles yet nevertheless no longer one modern-day list? Even the bible mentions of him like various different references were no longer written till many years after his meant lack of existence! Pilate is recorded contained in the Roman list as a fairly lack luster guy yet no aspect out of a Jesus, a tribulation or crucifixion that would easily were used to make him seem brighter! At purely right he replaced into an amalgam of those others yet virtually easily in no way existed!

Yes. Ephesians 2: 8&9 says, "For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast."

I do not. But then, my religion does not focus on such concepts as salvation or grace. Your question is comprehensible or relevant only to those within the Christian religious tradition. For them, this is essentially a theological/doctrinal litmus test, with most in the Protestant traditions agreeing with this statement, and more qualified agreement or disagreement from those in the Catholic and Orthodox traditions.

1)
It may startle you to realize that Paul is saying here that Moses taught salvation by grace through faith just as much as Paul did. Moses knew that the Law would not work. Why, even as Moses was bringing it down from the mountaintop, the people at the bottom of the mountain had broken all ten of the commandments before they were given to them. Moses knew that the people could not keep them, and therefore Moses also taught that God had provided another way by which people could be delivered when they failed to keep the Law. He saw clearly that God would lay the foundation for salvation in the incarnation and the resurrection of Jesus. That is why Paul quotes these words from Deuteronomy. Moses saw the coming of Christ down from heaven; he saw the resurrection, the raising of Jesus from the dead. Paul clearly indicates that all along God had this basis in mind for how people were to come to Christ.

Therefore, when the angels sang the song to the shepherds in the darkness of the night on the plains of Bethlehem, and the glory of the Lord broke out upon those humble shepherds out there in the fields and the angel said to them, "Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all men; for unto you is born this day in the city of David a savior, who is Christ the Lord" (Luke 2:10-11), this was the historic fulfillment of the basis on which God had been saving people for centuries before this. Now it is being worked out in history -- but God had been saving people who saw beyond the Law to the work of Christ long before that.

2)
There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God's rest also tests from his own work, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience (Hebrews 4:9-11).

Those who enter into rest have stopped their own work and are resting on the work of others. So if you learn the principle of operating out of dependence upon God at work in you, then you no longer try to do the work of salvation by yourself. When you rest in God, you no longer feel that everything depends on you. The one who rests in God is observing the Sabbath as God intended it to be observed.
