My kids don't have them, but I do think it can be a good idea . It establishes a chain of command if soomething happens to you and your spouse. We couldn't decide on who to chooose so that no feelings were hurt. We plan on writing a will that no one else sees, unless it becomes necessary. That would establish my parents and then my sister and her husband first, simply b/c my family is more well off and could provide a better life and afford to pay for their college and has more of the same beliefs we have, when it comes to childrearing It would hurt his mom's feelings to know that we feel this way, so we don't want to tell her right now.

No, I don't have a god mother and a god father for my daughter. It could be a good idea if anything happened to the parents. It is really up to the parents though.

The tradition of having Godparents to your children come from baptizing them. However, if you do not practice that custom there are no official Godparents. Godparents can serve as substitute parents in times of need. they can help you guide and raise your children . They are more than family friends or aunts and uncles. they are people you can trust in times of need. It can be special to have Godparents but it must be well thought of. Sometimes there is no one you would entrust your kids with and that is OK. Nowadays it is not a requirement to have Godparents, but if you have someone in mind to give that privilege to, don't hesitate. hope this helps. happy holidays.

My family is Catholic and I have god parents. But they were never really in my life. They were my aunt and uncle, I saw them alot when I was younger but not since I started middleschool.
I think that children should have them if they are really going to be there.

In Louisiana they are called Nanny and Paran. Catholics use them in the case of extreme need for the care of their young children in case of the death of the parents. It has just been a normal family "thing" for me as I had godparents when I was growing up...I think of them as "special" aunts and uncles...

My son has a godmother and godfather. We are Catholic and the godparents are supposed to ensure that he is raised the way we wanted him to be should anything happen to us. I have to say that his godmother takes her job VERY seriously and is almost a best friend to him.
