There is a medication out now that works on cold sores, BUT it's orgionally made for those with Herpes. The thing is, the virus that causes cold sores is the same virus that causes Herpes, so it does work. Problem is, it's expensive per pill.

I had a cold sore and my Dr. happen to have two sample packs for the next time I started to feel the tingle of a cold sore out break. It works, my cold sore was gone in a few days. Valtrex I believe was the name of the medication.

Also, Zinc will lessen the duration of a cold sore. I've used this also. I took Zinc pills, but look in the pharmacy section and see what they might have for coldsores that includes Zinc.

Well wash your hands often then you wont have the germs to give you a cold sore.
You could go to the pharmacy and but either abreva or some over the counter medication to get rid of the cold sore.
or
believe it or not a good home remedy is men's cologne you just dab it on the cold sore and it goes away.
it will sting though.
happy holidays

Make sure you wash your hands before eating. Use ora-jel or any other mouth pain releiver. Apply 1-3 times a day, give the sore time to heal, suck on an ice cube, if nothing works visit a doctor for a cold sore prescription.

Surprisingly, the reply that I discover such a lot handy to that query is plenty extra useful than individuals are making it, no offense, however what I do (the bloodless sore must be long past inside part an hour) is get a cotton switch, drench it in water, then upload as so much salt as viable till the water now not absorbs it, then (and that is painful) rub it violently (do not pass nuts) in opposition to the bloodless sore.

Are they on the outside of your mouth? Do they show up occasionally, maybe monthly?

If so, you might want to see a doctor, as it could be Type I Herpes.

If it's just a regular cold sore, use some chapstick or something similar and don't lick your lips (if that's what you do, because that can cause it).

If it is a fever blister you can use something like abreva, but that onlys hortens the healing time, there is no cure, it is a virus and you have to let it run its course. If it is just a cold sore then try carmex, it is really good! Good Luck!

topical meds that can hasten healing include Abreva, Campho-phenique, as well as prescription acyclovir. Ask your dr for a prescription for valtrex for next time- doesn't work if you take it more than 2-3 days after the cold sore starts.

keep your hands and face clean at all times. I reccommend using Abreva... it heals and dries out the cold sore much quicker then most brands...

Lysine. Especially good when the tingling of a fever blister just starts. You need to take more than the prescribed dosage tho.
