Xalatan is NOT for pinkeye.
its a prescription medication for treatment of Glaucoma and/or high eye-pressure. I don't know were you can physically buy the drop cheaply, but if you were placed on Xalatan by your Ophthalmologist for having high pressure in your eye, he/she does need to keep an eye on you (no pun intended), measure the pressure in your eye, look at the retina (back of the eye) and do visual field testing or other imaging studies if needed.
therefore it is very important that you go to your follow up appointments. Of course the cheapest way is if he/she can give you samples of the drug.

Is this for pink eye? Most doctors will go ahead and give you the prescription over the phone without needing a doctor's visit. I would call your dr and explain your reason for needing them. Worst case scenario: you have to go in, but mostly they would rather not bother and will just phone it in.

If you are using Xalatan, then you have glaucoma. It is very important to visit your Dr. at least every 4 months for checkups, due to the fact that glaucoma can cause blindness, especially if you aren't using your meds right. Check with your Ophthalmologist to see if they have samples from the drug reps or if there's a program they are involved in where you can receive your drops for free.
