In a newly formed pack there are two Alpha wolves. Both the male and the female are classed as Alpha when they take on the role of Parent and or Leader. As time goes on other Alpha wolves will take over and will only be leaders, not parents. In the world of canines a female dog is known as a bit ch so I would say the same applies to the female wolf.
