It depends on the child. My daughter went to stay at a friends house when she was 6 and I ended up having to go get her that night because she missed me. She is now 8 and she'll spend the night about 90% of the time. She still has her moments though.

It would depend on the child's personality and how well I knew the other child's family. Make sure that you are a phone call away and realize that no matter how excited your child is about staying the night someplace new, they should be able to call you if they want to be picked up. It is scary to let go when you are a parent but as long as you are aware of your child's environment and that you can be contacted at any time you should be OK. Get to know the other parents first would be my advice.

I would say kindergarden would be an ok time to let your child spend the night at a friends house but only if I know the parents

A age limit??? Out of diapers an off nursing.
As soon as the invitation arrives. Better yet,,, you put the party on.
Be sure to include the other moms for snacks.
It is called making friends.

Not sure, maybe never. Statistically, the #1 child abusers are step-fathers to their step-children. It seems that there is a high rate of abuse when some men have access to children who aren't their own. Putting a child in such a high-risk position doesn't seem responsible.

My daughter is 5 and just went to her first slumber party it was fun for her but hard for me. I worried and missed her the hole night. :) But that's just what us mom's do.

I think it's one of those things that you have to gage yourself really. It all depends on if you think your child is really okay with staying at someone else's house.
