Maybe you should invite him to dinner when your husband is home. Of course - you should probably talk to your husband about it first.

well it is differntin america when you bring another man home. Because they always have different intentions. if it was a woman you met it would be different. And I bet your husband would be like: "oh great she is making friends".I mean i brought people to my house after 2 days of meeting them. Because I felt a sense of confort around them and notihhng negative.
There is NO RULE or time period to inviting a person to your home in the USA. it's a pretty universal thing. if you feel like you trust that person it's not a problem. inite them over. especially when he's your neighboor that's even a good thing to get along with yout neighbors and invite them over. Because most neighboors in america don't talk to eachother. Your husband is just over reacting!! =]

You should be careful inviting men into your home when your husband isn't home because the man could get the wrong idea and think you want something other than a cup of tea.

Your husband is right - please be more careful you could be hurt that way. It is unusual in our culture to bring home people we've only just met. It would be more likely that we would invite them to a favorite restaurant. Our homes are open to our close friends and relatives. I would be wary of anyone who would be okay with coming over so soon in your friendship.

Im hoping that your hisband is telling you this out of PROTECTION and not out of CONTROLING.
It's true many people here in USA have bad intentions, it's pretty sad we can't be as trusting like as you say where you come from.

Its not a mattter of right or wrong, just advisable NOT to do so. new country, new language and culture should lead you to being extra cautious. You never truly know one's intentions until they surface.

I'd say if your husband thinks that it's appropriate to have your friend over, have him over. It sounds very friendly to me.
