You need to use a shampoo that is sulfer based like Denorex. For a quick fix just use anti bacterial soap of any kind. What you have is a fungus that thrives on oil. Happens to alot of people. Doesn't mean you are unclean or anything like that! Happens alot during the winter months when you are going from hot to cold or like you said puting your hair in a bun when wet.

Hope this helps.

Billy Mayes here! Try using "BAM!" or "Oxy Clean".

I'm kidding. How about simply using some baking soda? It's supposed to remove odors. If that doesn't work, I'd see a dermatologist.

Vinegar should help. The smell of the vinegar will linger around for a day or 2 but you'll be the only one who can realy smell it.

well..its really disgusting but mayo works...you slather it on and let it set for like 5 mins...wash it out..then wash with shampoo and it should be gone..i had to do it before so let me tell you the mayo stinks but its better than the smell of mildew :)

You could always put in another scent thing, or ventalate it, or you could get one of those scent absorbers at a CVS Target or a 711
