I agree with Father K. But to add to the FYI, when you send an email or "online message" to someone especially if it is a personal or private message, there is no identifiable way that you can be sure that the priest is actually who they say they are.

But, the most warning is that when you send your message he may not be the only person that has access to your personal message or if the email address was mistyped in anyway and was sent to the wrong person you would never know, unless you recieved a response from the priest or someone who would just pretend to be that priest to get more info, from you.

It leaves open the possibility that your confessions will be recorded. You wouldn't want a blackmail call from your loving neighborhood priest now would you?

For your protection. It might not be a priest you are confessing to.

Because the Sacrament of Penance must be done in person. For a Priest to properly grant you absolution, he must be sure of your act of contrition, that it is sincere, and there is no way to tell if that is true just over the Internet.

Sorry.

True believers are called to be priests, so if you confess on or off line to God you will be forgiven if you have truly repented in your heart.

Why confess to another sinner at all? Confess, own up to, admit, them directly to God.
