If people ask for your opinion then get offended by the answer, that's their problem. Sometimes I wish people would just come right out and say 'I want to hear your opinion, as long as it is the same as mine.'

Well....as a pastor, I appreciate honesty from my parish. Truly. If you told him that he had problems and that he needs help in front of other people...then you were indeed wrong to do it that way.
Scripture says tell him in person, face-to-face...and if he does not accept it, then go with two or three others. (This is only if he is doing something truly heretical)....if he still does not receive it - then and only then, take it to the church.
Perhaps he feels like you did not follow proper biblical procedure.

Doesn't sound wrong to me. If people don't want honest answers, they have no right to be asking questions from honest people!!! I used to have the same problem. I'm pretty straight-forward and I don't beat around the bush. People used to try to petition me out of my Church because I was "meddling", when really I was just telling them how I saw things.
As far as I can tell, you're in the right. Thou shalt not lie, right? :D

uhh depends on the situation. most pastors ive heard, always bring in personal problems and relate biblie verses to it, to show everyone else that problems can be solved using the bible. but if hes goign on and on about it, and doesnt hit the bible very much then yes i agree. i think people only get offended because ur blantantly honest. sad that its like that huh?

Often people are offended at HOW we express our feelings and not over what we are saying.
Prov 15:1
A gentle answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger.

The object of the game is to be helpful. Try to give good advice and if you know it would offend someone don't say anything. ANYTHING. It pays to help, not harm. OMG look at the time, I must be going!

I believe you are right. It may be ok if a pastor relates personal experience (as a testimony) as how he overcame something...to teach and edify, but that should be it.

Well what I say is don't ask questions if you don't want answers. You were not wrong, if you answered with honesty.

Probably because you have no tact and cannot refrain from giving someone your honest opinion without being offensive....
