We were together for 6 months, pretty much in love, but I know that we werent ment for each other. I care about him and my heart is hurting because i miss him. My heart keeps saying yes you need him back and my mind is saying "He isnt right, real love shouldnt cause so much pain!" What do i do?

There are lots of pressures in school and youg adulthood to be dating/popular/whatever. Its crap - focus on your ability to be a productive healthy adult.
Follow your dreams and focus on your skills and talents that can provide you a happy successful career/lifestyle. There is nothing more attractive to men and woman (and most teenagers - who have it together) than someone who knows what they want - and is getting it!
You will find people along the way with your same passions and interests. If you can keep yourself healthy in both body and mind and strive for success people will be knocking down your door to date you. ..and as a bonus you’ll be a happy self sufficient adult.

If you know he is not right for you, consider where the feelings for him stem from. Sometimes we fall in love with someone who does not really exist but the feelings don't just fade away by this understanding. Picture what he future would be like with him, mourn the loss, imagine all the pain as weights tied to your body, see yourself cutting the ties and look ahead. Don't let it drain your energy and try smiling because it really does help;
