Since you were non-specific in your question, I'll assume you are talking about online.
On Poker Stars you can email them at support@pokerstars.com. If you are a real money player and have been with them for a little while they will activate your right to make your own tournaments. You choose the game and the buy in. Then you tell your friends the password you set and the date and time of the tournament. You can then all play each other at a private table.

get a table and a nice looking cloth then get nice looking cards and chips and invite people over for a drink and a game or something
