I have no idea who I'm meant to be buying my present for, so I can't tailor it to their likes and dislikes. What could I get that's an amusing present for anyone (we're in an office)?

Get a gadget like 20 questions or one of those flashing light memory games, I really like the electric shock games too they're so funny.

Go back to the person who organized the Secret Santa. If they are at all bright, they took down who picked what name.
Having organized this myself, it's the only way to make sure that some lame-o doesn't ignore the whole concept and cheap out on a co-worker. Or some other lame-o loses their slip.

Gift cards to stores are great. Include a small box of chocolates or other Christmas/holiday treats.
If you want to get a "present"- I suggest a gift basket, maybe like a "movie" gift basket- microwave popcorn, candy (like the kind you get at the theatre), gift cards to a movie rental place like Blockbuster or whatever is in your town, and whatever else you may think is great for movie lovers.
Since you don't have the name or the likes/dislikes, you are somewhat limited.

Of course buy a gift that's non gender.metro cards,audio books (try mysteries or "the Shadow" series),hoilday coffee mug,gift cards are fabulous,popcorn tins, Good Luck Happy and safe Holiday.Oh and have your present presented last. and also put on the gift card that you lost the name of the person but the gift was picked out with no less thoughtfulness.

How about a nice insulated mug? They have some real nice ones at Target. That way it can be for a male or female... and most everyone drinks some type of hot drink.
