Go to http://irfanview.com and d/l Irfanview (freeware). When you ask for a print format you can reduce the size.

open a Word document
cl File
cl Page setup
page size - 5x7
set margins as allowed by your printer

cl Insert
cl Picture
cl from file
select the picture
insert
when inserted,


right-click the picture
select "format picture"
cl "size" tab
click to select "lock ratio" relative to original picture
now set the dimension in either horizontal or vertical, then tab to the other. It will automatically resize.

Your printer driver may allow you to reduce the image (check the Page Setup and Print dialogs); if not, then use a graphics program to shrink it.

There should be a print reduction option in the tools or on the scanner itself . . . look through your menu options, but different brands put the option in different locations.
