Bring her to the vet. Ask if it's too late for a spay (which will also terminate the pregnancy). If she's young and this is why she wasnt yet fixed, it could be dangerous for her to have the puppies. If you decide to take the risk, ask the vet how soon you can have her spayed post-whelping.

If you dog is a purebred of anykind, visit the national club page for the breed. Links are available on http://www.akc.org . Find a reputable breeder in your area and tell them that you have an accidental pregnancy and want to ask them to help guide you through. Be sure to keep the number for a 24-hour vet handy.

Once the pups arrive, follow all guidelines and shot schedules from the vet and the breeder. To help you find homes for the pups, use this link: http://www.hsus.org/pets/pet_care/guidelines_for_finding_a_responsible_home_for_a_pet.html

Good luck to you both during this time.

At 4-5 weeks. She would be gaining weight by now. Her appetite increased, her nipples would be pink and maybe swollen by now, maybe even hair lossage or thinning around them. you maybe able to feel them move. I watched a show on national geography about developing puppies in the womb but it didnt say alot about the changes in the mom. I would take her to the vet to be sure. They can palpate her belly and tell you and approx how many good luck.

"I am not trying to be a breeder or back yard breeder as you can see"

Oh, really? Then why did you not spay your poor dog and the poor to-be born puppies and the poor puppies/dogs that die in shelters everywhere? You ARE a breeder. Period.

Take her to the vet, please. Then please get her fixed and you will not have to worry about her getting pregnant again.

Some people are rude but the majority of us that do all we can to help homeless dogs (I foster dogs, I only adopt, and I am a fierce lobbyist for spaying and neutering) so please forgive us when we see people that post questions such as yours. "Letting" your dog get pregnant is irresponsible, period.

You do state that you don't know about breeding but you surely must have a general conception on the birds and the bees and must know that if you allow an unneutered male dog and a female dog in heat access to each other they will BREED!

You need to take her to the vet. You will need to make sure she is healthy and the pups are healthy. Its the same as when a person is pregnant. She needs prenatal care. If you don't take her to the vet, you are being a backyard breeder.

Don't feel so bad, My dog didn't show until she was about ready to have them. It was her first litter so I guess she didn't know she was suppose to be big as a horse and produce milk. So don't worry when she is about ready to have them you will see signs. Just let nature take its course. Only time will tell. Good luck to you and I wish all her puppies good health.

If she is pregnant at 4 to 5 weeks, one sign is the fur around her nipples would be thinning or gone. (Gives the pups an airtight seal)!

Seriously, take her to the vet to be sure.
