My male cockatiel previously abandoned about 6 years ago is fine. He taught me a lot about his kind. Tomorrow I will pick up an abanonded female. I have read about the quarantine period, but right now I NEED TO KNOW do I keep the cages? Across the room or can they be within 2 feet of each other? She will be definately stressed coming from her harsh outdoor environment to a Cockatiel friendly environment. Looking fowared to the quarantine interaction period and got a camera video to record these next few months. Any advice and any site that I have not located are greatly appreciated. Thank you

Thank you Sarah, but I really need to know the distance of cages at this stage of introducing tiels. I won't be able to respond until, (you all know I am an American living in Italy by now) tomorrow afternoon. I will be looking for more advice as she will be here in about 15 hours, and I have set her cage catty corner from my tiel about 2 feet apart.

At two feet apart you may as well have them in the same cage LOL.. they really should be in separate rooms or if you cant manage that at least way WAYYYYYY across the room from each other.. you will need to keep everything clean so there is no risk of any germs spreading (washing hands is critical) and Sarah was on the money with her answer also =) and don't forget the quarantine period should be no less than 30 days..

you should keep them in different rooms and use different eqiupment for cleaning cages and handling such as gloves. i would take the bird to the Vet becuase of bird flu to check that it is healthy and that it has not disease that you could give to other bird or you! hope it goes ok
