The Catholic church is considered "Mother" because it is considered the Bride of Christ.
Celibacy is a concept taught by the apostle Paul, who said that it was better for a man not to be married.
Read your Bible, Study some church history before you ask questions that are meant only to insult others. You are showing nothing other than intellectual laziness with questions like that.

I think it might be called mother because of the image it tries to have. The open arms thing, ready to hug;the love, the my children,I will always love them.
It's a public relations thing AND what a stunt. Think about it,a virgin and a mother at the same time. Why that's better than selling the Brooklyn Bridge to somebody because The Holy Mother Church has survived on that image for CENTURIES.I'm with you.No I don't have an email for the Vatican. There would never be a responce anyway.
Hang in there. Ya can't beat 'em but you can ignore them.In a way that is a win.

I'd try a more direct and less biased question if you want an answer, and I can't imagine who would know such an answer. I'm guessing the answer to be something like "because it is." Who cares what the Catholic church is doing anyhow, they are always doing something stupid like encouraging the spread of aids by frowning on birth control. They pretty much blatantly support poverty also by talking up how great it is and encouraging people to have as many kids as they want/like without regard for prosperity.
I think it has to do with keeping people down and ignorant enough to actually keep them practicing Catholics and sending donations.

The purppse of the Church Christ founded is to watch over God's children and to help them grow in faith. Of course, this responsibility in natural terms should be shared by father and mother, but still it is traditionally the mother who has principle responsibility for the children. The Church is God's family. God is the Father. The Church is the bride of Christ, and the caregiver for God's children.

So you think that the Pope has not thought of them, or answered them already???
You don't need the Vatican's e-mail address, you only have to read the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
It is all there in Black and White.
For a read, go to www.Catholic.com
or www.Catholic.org.
You are not the first to question, believe me!!!!!
Peace and good luck with your search!

You MIGHT be referring to the Roman Catholics.
There are distinctions.
I, one of the Reformed, have never referred to the church as a 'Mother.'
