When my brother was over there, I would send a package with food that does not need refridgoration; p&J, cracker, box of macaroni, cookies, instant coffe & tea ect; Magazines (I wouldn't buy them, but instead asked my neighbors and co-workers to bring some in, if they are a month old it doesn't matter); some t-shirts, socks, and underwear; diffrent size zip lock bags for storage; A cheap cd player (which he exchanged with a local for some watermellon).
I asked him in a letter what else I could send, and he said what I sent was perfect. He was greatful for the bags, he shared them and said they had a real rodent and insect problem and they really helped. He needed some extra cloths, and was very happy about the mac & cheese.
I think it all depends on where they are. Some of the guys are out in the middle of nowhere and don't have the cooked meals and other conforts, but some do. Send an assortment of what that person likes.

Hmmm...the mail device heading over the pond to the Sandbox is plenty extra suitable than this is been. considered one of my buds is over in Iraq, and he gets my stuff particularly straight away, like a 2 week turnaround at longest. My suggestion? deliver his birthday present, and use it as a 'try'. deliver it early, a pair of million.5 to two weeks early, and notice while he gets it. If he does, he can inform you the way long it took, after so you might use that as a litmus try as a approaches because of the fact the Christmas present. basically remember the completed mail device, even APO, slows down in a considerable way from the 2d week of December to January almost. stable luck.

Get the standard shipping price boxes from the post office that you can fill for just one price. When my cousin was overseas, we sent him photos from my wedding. Photos of stuff happening at home. Other ideas are stamps, christmas cookies, deck of cards (this could be a special deck with something he likes...Uno cards come in specialty decks like Family Guy, I got someone this for Christmas).....check on ebay. Even regular cards probably come with special markings if you look around on the Internet. Stamps, envelopes, paper for send letters back home.

Hi, my daddy is in Iraq too, I sent him some food he likes and that he can't find there, some pictures of the family and a letter. I think he'll like the letter above everything because it makes him feel closer, and that is what they all would love: being close to their relatives and friends.

an Ipod
Silly String (saw on the news that they use those to detect trip wires)
activity books, like cross words, etc
other necessities such as shampoo, soap, deodorant, toothpaste, lotion, etc

Send him pictures of his family, friends, places that he likes to go. Also, comfort food that he likes is good. My brother just got home from 4 months in Africa, and we sent him peanuts, chips, candy, pictures, clothes, cd's pretty much he wanted. So send him something to remind him of what he's fighting for. Also, there not allowed pornographic things but you can send him an FHM, a Maxim, or anything like that.

It would be nice if you could send him a portable dvd player and a homemade dvd of clips of his friends and family sending Christmas messages... and other clips of friends and family just being themselves so he can spend time with them in his own little way until he comes home.
