I have a new cat from 2 months now she is around 4 months old. I have this problem when the cat is making pee she is doing it in the litter box, but when she makes the "big thing" (you know what i mean) she is making it outside from the litter around one and a half human step from the litter box. Can u tell me is it a way to make her doing the both things in the litter box and is it a way of somehow make the place that she makes the big thing with something so she dont go there anymore because she is making it at the same place (but outside from the litter box, but at the same place)

all tips will be helpfull!

Hi......

Your kitty is probably in the box, but her little behind is actually sticking outside of the box. She knows that she's supposed to use her box, and is, but she's hanging outside. (This happens with my 15 year old cat sometimes as well).

Since your kitty smells that she's used the outside spot before, she is doing the same thing over and over again. While I'm sure that you have washed the area that kitty has messed on, her scent still does linger (cats have an excellent sense of smell). Please re-wash the area again and then spray it with Frebreze (or something comparable).

When your kitty messes outside again, please, don't flush it away, but rather put it back in her box so that her scent and the actual "object" (for lack of a better word) will be in the box and she'll get the idea that she's been missing the box.

Please don't scold your kitty because she is going to her box and you want to reinforce her good behavior.

Have a lovely rest of the day.

I'm not sure what to say. I was going to ask the same thing. My cat will pee in the box but poops outside of it. I have covered and uncovered litter boxes in the house. I have tried different litters and had her feces tested. She will do it even when the boxes are clean. Just the other day I cleaned them and within the day she messed outside of one. She will mess right outside the litter box. If you get a good answer let me know.

My cat insists on having separate boxes for no.1 & no.2. Try putting a second box next to the first, and watch & reward her for proper behavior.

Are you using a covered litter box? Some cats will not defecate in a covered litter box.

It could also be the type of litter you are using.
