I am a romantic. I am a man. I do believe there are less of us around because life is speeding by at such a frantic pace.
I had a 12 year marriage that ended 5 years ago with my wife dying from cancer. We had a very close relationship. We were connected on every level. I used to fall in love with her about once per week. Other people could see how in love and how connected we were. We would always cuddle in bed. We would wake up in the morning with the sheets and blankets all tangled and our bodies intertwined. It was not perfect. But we kept at it.
But, it takes a lot of work. Can't maintain this when you don't talk, spend quiet moments together, among other things, including the sex.
Can't maintain a good romantic relationship watching TV without talking.
So, it is possible. But it doesn't happen automatically. Even if there is love at first sight, it takes work to keep it.

Well look at our new culture.. if you think about it, everything is hit it and quit it right now.. I mean with all this new High tech stuff comming out, the Internet booming and progressing everyday, people just dont slow down anymore. I think a lot of sites have there own bad and good. take myspace, you pretty much know the person before you ever meet them, or at least you have a clue of what they like to do where they want to be and what they are doing now... Its almost like people dont need romance to get where they want to be anymore, people just dont slow down anymore... but yes to answer your question, i think it will be non existant in the next 50 years.

Well, if we go by what's on Yahoo! Chat, it sure seems like romance is dead. But deep inside, I think it is still alive, very much so, just read Yahoo! Answers, for example. ;)
And I'm sure out there in the real world, the fire's still burning for romance. :)

Romantics are few between so when you find one hold on to that one. I have noticed my own objectives and attitude have changed with society. Now I have become more of a guy. I'm in, out, and on my way, while the guy is left kinda stunned.

I think you get treated the way you want to get treated. Society has changed, but basic human needs haven't changed as quickly.
