...with my faith and religion? I have some things that bother me about my faith; namely, the hard stance it takes on sexuality. I think human beings are highly sexual and propogate towards a sexual life. Not that sex is everything, because it isn't, but why is it that we have a difficult time comming to terms with it? I have a vivid imagination and have intense dreams, especially at night, regarding sex, but feel incredibly guilty in the morning. Why?

What do you make of all this?

This is one of the most honest, interesting & sincere questions I have ever seen on here. Well, from a girls view, sex is the key to life. If we weren't sexual beings, how could life evolve as far as it has? For thousands of years? We want sex for a reason, to procreate. Now I have a feeling, the "sex scenes" you refer to aren't ummmmm, missionary. But if you're not hurting anyone, and the sex is consentual, I don't think it should make you feel guilty. My man for example, wants sex all the time, and if I could, we would be doing it like 4-5 times a day (no joke), but God did say He put enmity between us. I see why now. Your dreams & your imagination are a gift from God, don't feel bad about that. We are who we are, it is not your fault you have a high sex drive is what I am trying to say. Hopefully you can find the right person to commit to, and you may see the miracle that is inevitably linked to sex. God bless you, don't torment yourself.

Continue to question your religion, and don't be afraid to drop it entirely if you determine that it is more nonsense than sense.

The catholic church,in particular, is completely insane about sex. It gets it wrong in every way possible, and even invents new ways to be wrong about it that are hard to imagine.

Every sperm is sacred; no contraception; no abortions; no sex outside of marriage; no divorces; no married priests; no female priests; no homosexuality; no homosexual priests; no homosexual marriages; etc...

These policies are ignorant of human nature, and are often cruel, discriminatory, and the cause of enormous misery.

Finally, the catholics are admitting some fault for knowing that there was an epidemic (their word) of pedophile priests without doing anything about it, but they are still concerned that in compensating victims they may go broke!

It's astonishing. Didn't jesus supposedly say that it's easier to get into heaven if you're broke?

it's time for little man to become a big man.

A wise stoner once told me, "it's better to accept the consequences and just get high, than to worry about the guilt and continue to smoke."

sex-dreams may be bad, but if you worry about the guilt, AND still have sexual thoughts, then that is a double wammy, maybe even triple. It's one thing to just say, "hey, sex might be bad, but I want to do it." then to worry about the consequences while doing it.

To me, it seems like saying it is bad, and still doing it, is going against yourself, which is the worst thing to do. You can't say something is bad for you, but do it otherwise, that is poor thinking. You can just ignore the consequences, but as moderation goes, it's best to limit yourself and do things that actually merit satisfaction and completion, rather than an endless cycle.

You can’t be tempted unless you have first thought about it. All temptation is linked to what you think on. Therefore, control your thoughts, and you will control temptation. This is a simple but profound truth. It’s the reason most people fall into temptation. It’s like a woman who doesn’t want to get pregnant but continues to have sexual relations without any contraception. Sooner or later, she will get pregnant. Think on the wrong things long enough, and sooner or later you will fall into sin when tempted.

Philippians 4:8 says this,

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

Temptation will come, but it’s hard for the devil to deceive you when your mind is stayed on those things. Satan can only work with what you give him, so don’t give him any space in your mind. You’ll be able to avoid many of the temptations you face if you will put this into practice.

Don't let their trip land on you. Maybe one day the most of us will be able to come to terms with their own guilty pleasures, but maybe when that day comes the most of us will be able to handle those desires responsibly. You only need connection and forgivness with God, all else will fall into place.

Sex is a big issue. Everyone struggles with it from time to time. Do what is right for you. Belief in yourself is the key to the gates of Heaven.

All struggling is simply resistance to what is.

The more we try to deny our humanity the more we find ourselves in conflict with reality.

This is not to say that we need to be animalistic and become lecherous. But to know that we are not perfect and realize that it is not a sin, but simply a reminder that we need to evolve spiritually.

religion is about control and manipulations of mind, emotion and behavior to enforce conformity. what better way to control the masses then to make "sinful" basic natural drives? perhaps you will notice that it is woman who bares most of the brunt of sexual guilt. this, of course, is instituted to keep woman under control and in submission to her male counterpart so as to ensure the seed of offspring and patriarchal supremacy. it's more political then spiritual as religion is more about politics then "God".

is this about sex or religion. religion wise a church can not tell you what to beleive and they can guide you toward what they beleive and their rules but it is your heart that tells you the truth of your faith. religion is man made but God is always there for you.

Stop struggling and accept that your sexuality is what makes you human. There is no guilt in that!
