Its 2000 and 6.... So why is do women still want men to pay for everything? I thought we lived in an equal opportunity society, women wanted the to be treated as equals but still want the man to come out of his pocket. And its not a matter of being cheap its a matter of being equal. Let the woman pay sometimes and I will pay sometimes. Is there anything wrong w/ this?

I think it has a lot to do with tradition. Some women believe more in it than others, so they are much more likely to think that men should always pay. Also, I'm sure some women also do it just to not have to pay themselves - these are probably the materialistic type. It depends on the woman, her beliefs, and/or her upbringing.

My mother, for one, believes the man should pay for all the dates, mostly because she believes in a traditional type of courtship. My sister seems to follow this standard also, but to me it definitely seems to limit the role of the woman.

No, I agree with you. However there are many women that don't want equality. Don't let them taint your view of all of us. I make more money than my boyfriend, and I'm happy to pay for things a little more often than half the time because of that.

I just want equal pay for equal work, that's all. If you want to open the car door for me -well then, thank you! Don't get all PO over having to pay. If you don't want to pay THEN DON'T. Find a girl that's cool with that and there you have it.

Many women do pay on dates, or offer to pay...but until our wages equal men's wages, we often cannot afford to pay half of the time (especially since many adult, unmarried women are also supporting a kid (or more) from a previous marriage/relationship.

Yeah...equality...it hasn't quite arrived yet.

No, there's nothing wrong with that.. I feel bad when the guy pays for me in my culture anytime you go out or your visting someone it's on you to always help out or for you to pay first.. because it's just manners and respect.. for a thank you for taking me out..

you know most women are not like that.. so Idk if your dating a gold digger or not but if you are.. I'M SORRY lol..

Some want the best of both worlds. Too bad they won't get it most of the time.
