I have to tie my hair back into a ponytail sometimes and coz my hair isn't really long it sort of sticks out more than hangs down. Is there anything I can do to get it to point more down than sticking out?

Tie it down lower than you're wearing it now.

If you have time you can tie it down with a scarf, however you will need to put some type of gel on it and tuck it under put another ponytail holder on it and it should point down after you take the scarf off

Forgive me if this sounds weird. Try a little butch wax used for flat tops at barber shops nation wide. It doesn't have any smell, doesn't dry your hair out and actually is easier to wash out than even the smallest amount of gel. Just remember to dry your hair really well before applying. Otherwise, your ponytail is going to look kind of funny.

Basic physics, the lower or higher you tie the hair the less it will stick out. Basically just don't tie it in the middle.

You could take a round brush and wrap your hair around it whilst blowing hot air onto it. Finish by spraying a strong hold hair spray onto it

Gather it on top of your head instead of the back. The paper hat will cover it up.
