In contrast to Generic meds, when you pay more for Brand name Meds, what percentage is for quality and what percentage is for the name in the increase of price?

The price difference is the name generic meds work just as well as the brand name meds. Just when you go to the doctor ask him if he will write the scrip for the generic kind usually if you are paying out of pocket docs usually do that unless you have insurance that pays for your meds.

It is all the name that is the increased price. The company that developed the drug has so many years to recover their cost of developing and testing the drug before a generic version can come out. Once that time has expired the formula so to speak is no longer a secret and other drug companies can then make the very same drug. The quality is generally the same for both Brand name and generic. The Brand name though will still be more expensive as they may not have recovered all of their original costs to develop and test the drug.

You're paying about 90% of that markup for the package. The other 10% is for the name. The FDA has VERY strict rules about drug quality. The cheap stuff is the exact same drug as the name branded stuff.

I always buy Generic meds..all of the cost is in the name most big name medicines also sells Generics...

it's all greed. ads and promotion. Quality is usually not an issue, though they'd like you to think so.
