I'm not sure I understand your question in its entirety, but I'll give it a shot.
I'm an analytical person by nature. If someone tells me there is a God and that He became human and died on a cross for me and that I need to put all of my faith in Him, than I expect some evidence to support their claims. The same goes for the Bible.
Now life might not be going so well for some people and they are hurting deep inside, they might seek "comfort" in trying to find out what is really real; is God there like people say? and this might lead them into seeking the "truth" about who God is.
Now if you want to take on the entire issue of Truth and what it is and if it is absolute, I think that is another question entirely.
I don't understand your last line, about "using 'faith' in debates about if God exists or not?" We all have faith in something, whether as a Christian I have faith in a God who created everything out of nothing or the atheist who has faith in the concept that nothing created everything out of nothing.
We all have the same evidence, but we interpret it in light of our convictions.

It is about seeking the truth, Comfort comes as a benefit of discovering the truth.
Irregardless of what others who do not believe have said or what credibility the "world" has assigned to it that is contradictory to God.

Well you people cannot reason out if God exists or not and therefore we have to answer your stupid questions that one day you may get on the right track, when you believe in God he wants obedience and fair play for rest of the humans. He will give you comfort if you pray to him and his marvels are revealed to you everyday be it the the wind, sun, moon, stars etc etc which you may call the truth, what more truth do you want.

people like to believe that faith and truth mean the same thing and that those words are somehow interchangeably.
They aren't. They seek comfort.

If a sponge is easily saturated this is going to no longer carry water, is it no longer so? If one desires to apply this same sponge to get rid of a few spilled water it must be squeezed or rung out. Then this is going to carry added water from a sparkling spill. A human being is very like this sponge. at the same time as someone has grow to be saturated with extra luggage this human being can carry no longer some more thing desirable. A human being also should be squeezed or rung out each so typically for this permits room for the truth to seep in. the truth ought to easily accept room to enter. the truth will continuously enter at the same time as the mandatory room for storage has grow to be accessible. the truth will enter and set someone loose, on condition that gigantic parts of added luggage were discarded from in the interior heart of those commonplace as a human beings. A human being desires consistent hugs and squeezes. Hugs and squeezes in the course of the day, keeps the wellbeing care specialist away. all of us want a touch convenience, is it no longer so? playstation . - I actually were squeezing oftentimes! It has grow to be a habitual and a need!

There is comfort in knowing the truth.
Faith is a concept that some thing is so, or will happen...
God does not want us to have faith, faith is almost a negative... "it might happen, it might be so... ". God wants us to KNOW, to know the truth and to believe the truth exists. Not to hope he exists.
I hope you get what I'm trying to say.

Faith in God is always about comfort. The emotional part of the brain is stronger than the intellectual part.
