In Kansas it seems income guidelines are rediculous for help paying for childcare! We "overqualify" by about $100-$200 a month, however both our children are young. Therefore the cost of childcare out of our pocket is more than my income, but there is NO WAY we can afford for either of us to stay home. It seems there is no incentive with these programs for people to get a job or try and move up. Does anybody know of any other programs that might have a higher income limit? My kids are 3 and newborn. Thank you!

We had the same problem in Washington state, and I had to quit working. We overqualified by $67.00. They refused to help us.. even though $400.00 of the money they counted as income went to health insurance each month. It sucks.. but most people get denied 3-4 times before their claim gets taken seriously. My husband had to take a night job, and I stay home with the kids now. Its not Ideal.. but its better than me working full time, putting the kids in daycare, and getting no take home money... Maybe you could get a part time job opposite your husbands schedule?

The same is like that here in Michigan. It doesn't make sense, I know.
So my husband and I work opposite shifts so we can still have two incomes but pay nothing in childcare.
Good luck!
