Mossberg 835 Shotgun?

Is this a good gun? I want to get my bf a gun for Christmas. He wants a 12-gauge and I'm looking at a Mossberg 835. I need to know if it's a good gun or a cheap gun. Thanks.

Mossberg makes a good, dependable gun. I once owned an 835 and it treated me well. It's easy to take apart and clean, and performs well in the field. However, you should find out if he really wants a gun that shoots 3.5 inch mags. If it doesn't matter to him, I would go with the Mossberg 500, which shoots regular 2.75 inch shells and 3 inch shells. The Remington 870 Express would also be an excellent choice. The reason I say this is that the guns that shoot the 3.5 inch shells are a little heavier, and also cost a little more. But if he wants one that shoots the 3.5's, the 835 would be a good choice.

The Mossberg 835 is a GOOD shotgun. There are BETTER and there are a lot WORSE.

Also consider the Remington 870. It is the hands-down favorite shotgun in this class and many people swear by their reliability.

It's kinda like a Ford-Chevy discussion. Some guys like Fords, some guys like Chevys and some like Dodges.

You will not go wrong with either choice.....

yes it is.. there are a lot of others for about the same price look at the Benelli Nova. also look at the Remington 870 express magnum all come camoflagued stocks if that is what he wants all shoot 3.5 inch shells. Look at the Stoeger M2000 auto loader it only shoots 3in but he would like it...and the price is close. walmart or Academy Sports or Bass Pro would be your best prices and can answer your hands one questions
