My option is a generous cookie and chocolate arrangement (preferably made by yourself).
They really thank the details more than the size of the gift.

As a teacher, my favorite gifts are those that children make. I love when they make a card and I get a little message inside from the child.
I also enjoy gift certificates. I get a lot from places like Starbucks, so stay away from that. I have gotten gift certificates from book stores, nail salons, massage parlors, clothing stores, and restaurants. Since I am an avid reader I love the ones from the gift stores!
I suggest, since he has only been there a short time, that you stick to something simple. Several years in a row, a family I worked with got me some chocolate covered strawberries in a nice little box. They were delicious!
Something that the parents do in my program for Christmas is get together and collect money donations. They then divide up the donations and give each teacher a big gift certificate or donate the money to the school for supplies. We have used this money to purchase many wonderful things for our program. This may be something you can get together and do with the other parents now or down the road. Hope this helps!

I worked in a daycare for several years and I would have to say that I really liked the gift certificates to area restaurants (not a large amount - just enough for lunch). Now that I have children in daycare, I will buy them a pair of those really soft socks and some chocolate. They will love either.

My mom owns a daycare and the thing she hates most is something to go in the daycare. So try to stay away from that. Try to give them a gift certificate to a massage parlor. They are fairly cheap and that's something I think I would want if I work with children all day! My mom loves that!!!
Hope this helps :)

I got my daycare provider a mini "spa" kit. It was fairly in expensive.
I found out her Husband is taking her two older kids to his families for Christmas and she's staying home with the youngest one, because she doesn't want to travel with her...so since it's just the two of them, she'll have some free time and I thought she could use some relaxation time when her daughter is napping.

If you want to keep it fairly cheap, try a box of chocolate covered cherries and a card,or maybe a nice candy dish from a dollar store or somewhere filled w/ Hershey's kisses!

have him make something. I am a child care provider and getting something my kids made for me means more than a store bought card or gift.
