I had my follow up 6 weeks appointment with my doctor yesterday and I also got blood work done. My doctor calls me today and tells me that my white blood cells is a little low, so he is referring me too a specialist. I was just wondering does anybody know exactly what it is? I did my research and it is saying alot of different things.. Regarding Lupus and other sicknesses.. It would be great if someone who has it or knows about it too respond..

I thank you in advance too you all for responding...

Ok my Mother just went through this not eve an month ago, thet tought her's was cancer, but it was an active infection in her body some where. The specialist will do one of 2 thing's, keep you there for MANY test's if they think something is wrong, or send you home and say come back in a month if NOTHING is wrong.

Having low white blood cells is an indicator of a problem, but has nothing to do with your red blood cell count.
If you think you need to, get tested for HIV. Low blood cell count is one of the first diagnostic symptoms. However, there are other disorders that attack these cells.
White blood cells are what make up your immune system so, to narrow it down, you might have a disorder that specifically attacks your immune system. Are you taking any medications? Some medications are immunosuppressive. Steroidal medications can do this as well. Sounds like you need some other blood tests to help diagnose you. Are you having any other signs and symptoms or are you pretty healthy right now?
In any case, you need to keep in touch with your doctor.
