You could:

1) Get a hooded litter box and face it towards the wall with room enough for the cat to get in.

Or

2)Put it up somewhere. The cat won't mind.

3) Or better yet, keep it really clean so there isn't anything in there for the dog to eat!

(Your cat just told me to tell you he likes # 3 the best)

Either block the room with a baby gate that your cat can jump over, but your dog cannot, or place the litter box on a higher surface, such as a table, for then your dog cannot reach in.

A lot of companies make a box to put your litter box in . Like a toy box with a arch cut out of the side. It is too small for the dog to get his head in and it contains more odor and You can put it wherever you want. We didn't want to spend the money to buy one so we made one and it worked great.

My friend had this problem with his puppy so he bought litter boxes with covers that open at the top (Clevercat makes them but you can probably make one yourself out of a storage box). His cats could hop in and out but the dog couldn't get his head down into the litter.

Busted Halo beat me to the right answer. Yeah the vet can give you a food suppliment that makes the cat shite taste bad to the dog. Plus it's loads better than dealing with gates all over the f..ing house.

the easiest way is to segregate the doggie from the litter box. This method is the most straightforward . Many people find it difficult to do this simple behavior fix so behavior modification may be needed to remedy the situation

We had this problem with our dog (when she was a pup). The vet told us that she does it because the cats' food has more fat in it than dog food...tastes good to the dogs because the fat in the cat food doesn't get digested. Really discusting act though. The vet has packets of this white powdery stuff...looks like flour... to put in the CATS food... it's odorless and tasteless... the cat(s) will eat their food and this powder makes their feces taste bad to the dogs. The dog will stop eating the feces once he/she figures out that it tastes bad. I can't remember the name of the packets but it's relatively cheap...

1. Keep the litterbox clean (don't leave poop lying around)
2. Keep it out of the reach of the dog, if possible
3. Say No to the dog every time you see him there, or whatever you say to him in order to leave things.
