I have a dog that has been pooping seeds. She doesn't only poop the seeds, but they are mixed in with her feces. The seeds are black, and they kind of have the shape of a pumpkin seed. I'm not sure if maybe she is eating the seeds and just not digesting them, or if her body is producing them. If that's the case, what causes it?

If they are black, it is nothing her body is producing, she has found a source of seeds to eat, and they don't digest..

It sounds like watermelon seeds or sunflower seeds (in the shell) - most likely from a bird seed mix someplace. Dogs only poop what they consume - her body isn't randomly producing seeds. If it concerns you that it's not a seed but rather something more ominous, call the vet and ask to bring in a stool sample.

She is eating the seeds from somewhere. Seeds are very difficult to digest and they will just be pooped out as you are seeing. Wash one of the seeds off and research it to see what it is. I am sure you will find the plant or tree is probably in your backyard.

The body doesn't produce seeds, but it doesn't digest them either. If she eats seeds, she poops them (so would you). But they could be some sort of parasites, take some to the vet to check.

Are you sure that these are not segments of worms??? Worms are excreted in dog's feces and come in all sorts of varieties and shapes, etc. Might not be living crawling worms, but can be worm eggs. Often these look like different type of seeds. Unless your dog has access to seeds that look exactly like the ones that it is excreting would consider getting it tested for worms.

The only way seeds come out of poop is if it was in her food or she ate them someplace else

She's getting in to something somewhere! Seeds are designed to travel through the bowel and be disbursed. They don't digest, that is why you see them.

Dogs do not produce seeds. It must be something that she is eating. Check the yard for plants that she may be eating and watch your trashcans.

She is eating them. Dogs also do not digest peanuts. It probably won't harm her, but try to find out where she is getting them and then try to find a way to prevent it.
