Is it worth playing?

The best way to play is with co-workers. Every week, have everybody in the office chip in a mere 5 dollars, and play the big one. If you have 40 people pay up, that's 200 lottery tickets. Sometimes the jackpot can reach $200M. Now divide that by 40 people and you still have $5M for you. Of course, then theres tax, but hey, you'll be a millionnaire, and you only chipped out $5 a week. That's less than a Double Whopper Value Meal at Burger King.

Depends on which lottery. In a 6/49 type lottery (you have to pick 6 out of 49 numbers correctly) the odds are about one in 13-million of picking the right combination.

the odds are always against you buddy. Its worse than going to the casino but better because you can "gamble" in a lot of different stores or supermarkets. I think its worth it just for kicks but not something you do daily. Do it once a week or once a month maybe youll get lucky. Depending on what kind of lettery it is and how many numbers are involved the chances of winning all of the prize change. So just play and dont get addicted.

We probably waste more money on junk food in a days time. When the odds are pretty good that you will at least get the cost of the ticket back, it is probably a better result than obesity. Budget a little each week and your chances improve a little.

You have a better chance of having your house bombed by terrorists than winning the lottery.

Or, you could just save your money, work hard, and have the satisfaction of earning all the money you have.

You have a better chance to:

Take EVERYONE in Canada, and have them put their names in a hat. Then take you, and two of your freinds and do the same.....

You have a better chance to pull your name, or either of your freinds names from the hat, than to win the lottery.

Don't waste the money. Donate a dollar a week to charity - you'll get more out of it.

depends on which lottery....but usually very slim chances. On the other hand, if you don't play you have 0% chance of winning!

It is slim, but, you never know. Sometimes I just buy one ticket and just let the computer pick the number. I not going to invest a lot of money playing all the weird number schemes.
