I don't know if there is a God, but the ones people believe to know are invented by people. At some point, people realized they would die. They questioned this and tried to sooth their thoughts about this with religion. Other people built on this by adding things like heaven, hell, Satan etc. in order to exploit these very natural fears and gain power this way. Do as we say and you too with have eternal life.

What a scam, and what a shame, because the real quest for God and answers regarding life after death are very valid and should not be subject to exploitation

Go is omnipotent, he always was, infinite. our human minds can't seem to wrap around that because we have a tiem limit for these bodies, however we do not for our souls. It is just one of those things we don't understand or can't undertand. It's like there are colors in heaven we have never seen before, we can't imagine it because we have an inset thought of the primary colors...

A good book to read on this topic would be A History of God, by Karen Armstrong.

Superstition among early hominids soon after they began to develop language. Everyone tries to explain things in order to feel more comfortable about them. Therefore religion was invented. Sometimes it's blatantly cruel, alla Aztec human sacrifices, and sometimes pretty non-intrusive, alla Buddhist meditation.
