My two dogs got out of the fence on Friday and its now Tuesday and we have not found them. We put up flyers, put an ad in the paper and everything. They are pretty expensive dogs. (we have a purebred boxer and a purebred english bulldog). If you found them would you give them back. and please be honest.

Like you we do not have a lot of money to place a lot of ads. Do the flyer thing and keep checking with the Dog Pound and Humane Society. Make sure they have pictures of them both. We found an Australian Shepard puppy about 3 weeks ago and kept him here ( not a big deal for us since we have dogs and breed dogs) We checked the newspapers and called both the pound and HS got a couple of phone numbers that fit the dog, and also called an ad in the newspaper that was selling the same kind of dog. It wasn't one of the breeders puppies that they had sold (I figured if they were a good breeder they would have information on who bought the puppy and how to reach them if they were a good breeder, we do) and called the numbers from the pound and HS and found the owner. He was with us about a week. The owner was very hard to reach. Anyway I would give the dogs back and I would hope who ever has your dogs does the same. I would also check in to getting them micro chipped. That would really help too. Good Luck!!!

Aww I am so sorry. Honestly if I found two beautiful dogs, I would return them. It is not right to steal something that is not yours.Do they have identification tags??? If they dont It may be hard to find their proper home. I would take care of them, but fist I would call the animal shelters, vets etc in the area then I would post flyers and put an add in the paper. But to be honest not all people are like me, and they may keep them. I would keep look in backyards etc... I hope they are fixed. some people may see it as an opportunity to make big bucks off of purebred dogs. I haver heard horror stories of this happening. Some times people will take them right out of the yard. Good luck.

yes I would, as I know that there people would be missing them a great deal.
I know that you have placed a newspaper ad and flyers. The only other suggestions that I would make would be to call all of your local vets offices and let them know your dogs are missing, I would drop off or mail flyers to their offices as well, so they know what your dog looks like and should someone come in with a dog that they say they found the vet staff will know it is your dog. I would call all of your local animal shelters and report your dogs as missing, I would also call your local police station too. If you don't hear anything in a couple of days, I would then call the shelters in your surrounding areas as well as the vet hospitals. I really hope this helps somehow and I really hope you get your dogs back really soon. God Bless.

Yes I would. I am so sorry. I would give them back bc I would not want someone to keep my fur babies. Are either of them microchipped? If so, if you think you find them, you can prove they are yours by that. LIke the others suggested, I would also put a flyer up at local vet offices and make them aware. Have you posted a reward? Some people are all about money and would be more likely to help if there is a cash reward involved. Did you walk around your neighborhood right when u noticed? Sometimes people have had luck calling them by name and squeaking their fav toy. I hope some family took them in and is just holding them until they can find you. I'd also contact your local police in case they were stolen. Good luck with your search.

Umm YES! They arent my dogs, and I would worry the owners were missing them. Because if my dogs got out, I would miss the heck out of them.
Did they get out? Or were they perhaps stolen? Because a lot of dogs around this time of year, are stolen. Especially purebred dogs.
I would put in any flyers and so on, that the dogs have medical issues and need medication. Or something like that.
I would also offer a reward but do not enclose the amount of the reward.
I would maybe also ask your neighbours if they saw anyone the day it happened, hanging around..in case they were stolen.

Of course i would. But u should try calling ur local human society and give them a report of your 2 dogs (its like a missing persons report) and this is why i think u should do it :I had a kitten hanging around my house a few nights in a row and i thought it was a stray cat or that someone didn;t want it anymore or they just drooped it off at the side of the road. so my husband wanted to keep it. At first i said no cause i already have 2 cats but then i felt bad and decided to keep it. so i brought it in to my house gave it a bath and fed it and then realized that it was way to friendly to be a stray cause it used the littler and was totally trained in everything. I told my husband that it had to be someones kitten and it could have been a little boy or girls kitten and i started to feel bad, So i called the human society and told them what had happened so they came to my house and picked it up. My husband and i were going to adopt it later that week if no one had claimed it so i called back a few days later and to my surprise the owners had already picked the kitten up.
It felt so good to know that i did the right thing and that the kitten was back with his family.
So have hope and hang in there cause you could still get them back.

I would give them back because I know how heartbreaking it is to lose your dog.
Will you get yours back? Don't know.
Maybe you should put something on your flyers stating that 1(or both) of them has medical problems that require regular treatments. Perhaps put on the flyers that they are wanted in association with a dog bite victim.
If I were housing an animal, I wouldn't want to keep it after I heard that!

Did your dogs have ID tags on? A rabies tag? Anything that could trace them back to you? Have you tried calling all the vets offices in your area?
You should register them on the national lost pet website:
http://www.lostandpound.com/
Check it out! It's free! The more people that register the sooner lost pets can find their way back home! It sends an e-mail to everyone within a 15 mile range of you including all vets offices, shelters, residents, etc.

I suggest that you call the local dog impoundment office to see if they were picked up by a patrolling truck looking for stray animals. If you did not have ID on them, they wouldn't know how to contact you. Do that NOW.
If they don't have them, perhaps someone picked them up thinking they needed a home. Or, someone looking to make a few dollars picked them up to sell.
If they were my dogs, I'd be out patrolling the streets myself...after I had checked with the dog pound, of course. And, I'd pray for their return...I talk to God about all my problems.

If you don't find them before Christmas, keep looking but step up your efforts in the New Year. Somebody stupid enough to steal someone's dog may think it will make a good gift, then change their minds after a couple of weeks with the dog.
