On HBO's Boxing After Dark, whenever you hear Larry Merchant make a comment, he always speaks really slow and relaxed, and sometime he slurrs his words. Now, don't get me wrong, I like Larry Merchant. He can be a little annoying now and then but, I think I would like him a whole lot more if I knew he was drunk all the time.

Yup. It seems like it. He's got some good analogies though. Weird ones. Some I don't understand but overall a good commentator.

I never thought of Larry being drunk first with out Larry the show would be dead with Emanuel Stewart acting like he has never ben to a fight befor or the other guy acting like he invented boxing Larry is the only host that ask the hard questions he knows that most of these guys are not that good remeber Larry has been around a long time and he has seen the best up close so I respect him very much I,ve never herd him say something that was way off base he knows these fighters have big egos and the best time to talk to them is right after they have fought you will see who they reaiiy are Larry pulls no punches

He does seem that way. Still I think he is cool. You know what is really cool is when he goes off on one of wild analogies, sometimes it leads back to right destination and other times it just stays there in left field. Then alot of time he tries to tie his commentary too something happened in the world. The hurricane that hit fighter A today was like the hurricane that hit coast today only without the rain. Then you try to figure out what he was trying to say. It is cool. Also like when he would argue with Foreman.

I think that's what makes him so great. A little burban before he hits the airwaves makes him feel good. Larry is crazy though. One day, somebody is gonna punch him right in his mouth, but he asks the questions that we really want answered. Let Larry keep drinking his kool-aid and leave him alone.

It seems that he is, he acts pretty weird sometimes. He is either very tired or very drunk. I think that is his character and that is what makes him the best at what he does. He is a calm and assertive when he talks, he is precise, but takes a long time to complete a sentence. He is a cool guy, but he may need some "Red Bull" at times.

yes and he is so happy with himself. He must be taking lessons from Jim Lampley (mr arrogant himself). Lampley is a reincarnation of Hitler and should be shot.
