I'm not trying to breed my lab to my bloodhound. In the future I plan on breeding bloodhounds with bloodhounds. I just wanted to know if I could change clubs from CKC to AKC. The breeder that I got my BH from was very professional but I had no idea that CKC was so bad. I just want the best for my dog.

If you are planning to breed, be sure to do a TON of research before you take this on. There is SO MUCH you need to know and be willing to do in order not to be a breeder of the "back yard" variety.

Here's a link to the AKC's guidelines on ethical breeding of purebred dogs. For me, when I am looking for a breeder, they MUST adhere to ALL of these guidelines, or I won't consider getting a puppy from them.

"I just wanted to know if I could change clubs from CKC to AKC"

AKC will not recognize your cak registered dogs.

"breeder that I got my BH from was very professional but I had no idea that CKC was so bad"

I find that very hard to believe. ckc has been much detested in the dog world for many, many years, I doubt ANY reputable breeder is not aware. I would seriously consider changing breeders next time as well, one that is a little more involved in the dog world.

CKC could be Canadian which is perfectly acceptable to cross register to AKC! If it is Contenital Kennel Club, its crap. Best of wishes, look for a well tested AKC registered female for a future breeding prospect, and do all the proper health testing too.
Best of wishes and you are welcome.

If the dog's sire and dam are not AKC registered then you cannot change. It is a "pedigree recognition" passdown from generation to generation.

Many Bloodhounds are UKC registered, and they are the same.

AKC will probably not recognize your dogs. You can contact them at www.akc.org
