i made my own wedding invitations. i bought heavy postcard paper at the office supply store. it came in sheets with perforated edges and i left two attached so it would fold in the middle. then i found a fancy font and printed them up on my home computer. i loved them.

Only if you have the skill and talent. Otherwise make-your-owns can look like crap. People also often get the etiquette and wording all wrong when they try to do it themselves, then they end up looking foollish. So approach that project with caution!
If you are trying to save money, get some nice but inexpensive stationery and hand-write each guest an individual letter of invitation (MUST be written by your own hand, as per etiquette--do NOT print on computer if you do this-- Letters of this sort need to be by hand, or you're being tacky).

There are several styles at various places that will allow you to develop an invitation that looks professional. The upside is that this proves to be much more affordable than invitations from a printing company. The downside would probably be the extra time you have to put into the typeset/organization...
Unfortunately, I ran out of my original invitations and b/c of time...I had to purchase and make additional ones on my computer. They came out great. There was an online site for the invitation company that I used to design it and tada...it was done.
There are invitations for every theme you can imagine!
Check out Michaels, Hobby Lobby or even Wal-Mart (if you are on a tight budget).
Hope this helps!:-)

Take a picture of you and your loved one and make save the date cards on www.snapfish.com
If you have a computer, buy the invitation kits at Wal Mart or Michael's. Super cheap. If you have a loving family member that wants to be a part of the wedding planning, this is the perfect job. Save the money and buy more BEER.

THis isn't a question. Did you mean to ask "Are there nice DIY wedding invitations?"
If so, the answer is, probably. However, most DIY invites that I've seen just look cheap and many people cut corners on them. When one can get a complete wedding invite for around $1.25 at http://www.willowtreelane.com , why even go through the hassle?
If you decide to DIY - please make sure to use a high print quality, hand address the envelopes, and be sure that all text is clear and fits within the border.

ABSOLUTLY !! I found great paper at several places, Michaels, Wal-mart, and online pretty reasonable. Mine, particularily are from Wal-mart - double heart I LOVE THEM. Finding fonts and printing is ALOT cheaper, in which gives me more money to spend else where !!
I think it is the way to go, there are so many places to shop for the right stationary, and online to get the wording - its really simple now a days ! Just make sure your paper desinty is high enough .. or they will come out looking cheap.

Definately can be done...Michael's Craft Store has some great invitations that are blank and you can decorate them however you like. I've been thinking about making my own as well. If you decide not to though try this website it got some invitations on it and they aren't really gonna break the budget bank.

I am!!! i took a graphic desing course at the local voactional school for 2 years in high school, so i'm fairly good with the computer. i haven't decide whether i want a scroll invitation or a trifold invitaion, but i found a beautiful image a a knight and lady (we're having a medieval celtic wedding) played wiht the colours some, and am looking to put a celtic knotwork border on it. i am also trying to decide whether or not i want to chance my hand at calligraphy or to trust the computer's old english font, but wither way, it will look pretty !! i want to print them out in high quality onto parchment paper, to make them look old. and i'd like to seal the envelopes with a waz seal, but they tend to break in the mail, so i may double envelope some things. i'm also sending out a mini guide to a medieval wedding along with it, and some ideas for clothing, mannerisms, and a list of the activites (blind man's bluff in a wedding ...*giggle* gotta love medieval things) so that guest are warned well ahead of time of just what's going to be happening.
have fun!! and look for examples of invitaitons you like before deciding to make yours. try to find some images you liek to use!! good luck1!

That's a great idea. If you want to be creative or cost efficient, I say why not? Just make sure you have the time, and a good place for materials. Also, if your guest list is huge, then enlist some friends and/or bridesmaids to help out.
Have fun!

yeah you can buy the kit right at walmart, target or a craft store. You make them up right on your computer. If you have the time it is much cheaper. Good luck!
