You are wrong. The term 'range' in this context, refers to the box itself, which for an egg is a pretty large building to live in. As the song goes 'Oh, home on the range, where the deer and the antelope roam', those eggs were given those boxes completely free of charge, hence the term 'Free Range Eggs'.

I would recommend you open the box and let the eggs move around freely on your counter or in the fridge. In fact this abuse has been going on way to long and I think we should all do our part. I recommend going to your supplier or grocery store and opening all of the boxes and let the eggs roll all over the floor until some one buys them.

well its obvious, free range means the chicken is allowed to do its own thing whereas non free range are big fat balls of feathers in a cage being fed processed vegetables and being forced to lay crap eggs til their hearts content til they die and next minute they are on your dinner table xxx god i should be a vegetarian
