It's a big risk even for a police officer. I'm sure that they will consider it but they probably have more conventional means to start with.

If only it were that simple!
Firstly, the police are governed by Health and Safety legislation as much as anyone else - can you imagine the risk assessment to deploy policewomen in this way? And would you want your girl friend undertaking the job? We're only human after all!
If police were to do so, the logistics of mounting full surveillance to keep the officer safe would also be a nightmare. Undercover work is hugely personnel intensive, believe me.
No, the best thing to do at present is good old fashioned police work combined with the most advanced forensic science techniques possible.
What's the betting that in the end he'll be caught by a uniformed officer doing a routine stop check - like Donald Neilson and The Yorkshire Ripper?
Take care

Lots of interesting opinions here, some educated, some not.
Police women quite frequently work undercover as has been suggested. No it is not entrapment as many have suggested. Yes it is dangerous, however it is strictly controlled and monitored. Overtime goes out of the window in these circumstances and the police can apply for exceptional duties funding to cover the cost of the investigation.
Anything else you want to know? Oh, and by the way, prostitution in this country is not an offence in itself, soliciting is and running a brothel where more than one prostitute works is, and most prostitutes pay tax on their earnings!

Hi, I live in Ipswich, one of the girls was last seen right near my house...but anyway...wouldn't that be really dangerous for the police officers? And also, chances are they would take a different girl. And also what about non murderous people who use the prostitutes?? What would the officers say?? How would they know it wasn't the killer?

it is very difficult to act the wear and tear and self advertisement that prostitutes develop as a habit to attract clients, therefore it would be easy to spot a fake and too many fakes would give the game away to fast for a clearly methodical and clever madman who seems to definitely have a plan.
it's an easy thing to suggest, harder to wish for and not very practical to do. i would imagine that this killer would take the bait for the opportunity to get away with killing an officer.
my suspicion is that a killer like this expects to be caught eventually. the police won't want to expend or risk too many lives when they have better methods of training and tracking resources to the situation.
i just hope they catch him soon. it's desperately sad that people who are at a rough point on their lives are so vulnerable.

Its about time the law was changed and prostitution was fully legalised and brought under the protection of the law.
These people need and deserve a safe enviroment to work in, we have health and safety laws in the workplace, why shouldn't those who work in the sex service profession have the same protection?
At least if its in a safe enviroment anyone wishing help to leave the pimp or give up drink/drugs can have access to the right services. Paying tax is better than paying a pimp.

I can assure you there will as I write be a number of plain clothes WPCs on the streets of Ipswich and Norwich.
It's standard procedure.
And when I say plain clothes I mean of course spike heeled boots and a PVC raincoat.
I think it's very brave of them. I wouldn't do it. Especially in this weather...

DAVES HERE AGAIN
Why should we risk our hard working under paid women police officers, for the sake of none tax paying (probably drug using) prostitutes.
What happens if something goes wrong, maybe you would like to explain to the cops KIDS why their mums dead and for what?
What YOU need to remember is these prostitutes don't pay tax on their trade, and in MY opinion (freedom of speech) are probably drug users who claim d.h.s.s off the tax payer, i.e me you and the wpc you wants to use as bait.
REPORT ME IF YOU WANT.
DO YOU FIND MY OPINION OFFENCIVE?
