I'm an atheist and I'm not afraid of God. I think the assumption is that we hate the restrictions that living a 'godly' life puts on us, so we hate God. Or that we're angry about being made to feel guilty about our amoral behavior by christians, so we hate God.
Neither is the case with myself. I don't hate anybody, least of all a character in a book of fairy tales. I don't even hate christians. I think their beliefs are stupid, but I don't have anything against them personally.
I don't even hate muslims, even though I sometimes come off as though I do. I just hate their religion and everything it stands for. I hate the way it's practiced and I hate that people do profoundly sadistic and violent things in it's name. I think it's a dangerous belief system and I think it's adherents should seriously look at their holy book and examine it's contents instead of just consuming it.
I think pagans are nice enough people, but their religion is just plain silly. No sillier than the others, except with how they act.

All peoples tend to relate well to each other when it comes to spiritual matters. The are no religious wars waged in Antiquity. These begin when monotheisim becomes the status quo of spirituality. Monotheism breeds eliteism and mandates. Hence the whipping of the Hebrews/Jews throughout history, and the never-ending struggle between Islam and Christianity. What is funny is that they all supposedly believe in the same god. So if they cannot get along, what makes you think that they will accept the beliefs of one who either believes in a different god or spiritual structure or that there is no god at all.

this is not any longer fairly conceivable to get a share, yet i can remark. i don't like faith a lot. It promotes the concept faith is more desirable effectual as a level of truth than information. Any rational human being can see that it is illogical. although, i do no longer imagine a lot less of someone because they keep on with a faith. the actually ingredient that bothers me is at the same time as human beings pontificate their ideals to those no longer fascinated, or actively search for debate or argument with those of alternative ideals. This incorporates different atheists, and perchance they annoy me more desirable by using this, giving us a nasty call.

I don't hate religions and yes, I seem to get along well with pagans, buddhists, and even many Christians. The only problem I have is with intolerant religion that seeks to impose its beliefs on those who don't share them. I have never heard a Pagan suggest I should start praying to the Goddess in school or that teaching their children evolution should be forbidden or even that we should teach their beliefs in schools. I don't see them trying to reduce access to birth control for everyone or legislating against homosexuals who do them no harm. I don't have a problem with living in a world of differing beliefs, I find it interesting, I have a problem when one group gets pushy and intolerant.

You cannot be scared of something you don't believe in.
I find I get along with Pagans because they don't share the Christian tendency to force their religion on others, and they don't seem to start many wars. While I'm generally opposed to religion, Paganism doesn't seem to cause many problems.

Athiests are not scared of God because he doesn't exist now in this world. Athiests try to get along with everyone but, some aren't accepting and they would rather try to tell others to believe, like you for instance. Why would you even care if someone believed or not? I don't like organized religion because it is hypercritical, damaging and just plain dangerous in many cases.

I think think the common assumption of atheists is that they don't believe. As far as getting along, the only discord seems to be Yahoo Answers....esp. this category.

Strangely enough, I'm not scared of The Green Goblin either.
Fictional characters rarely inspire fear.
(As an aside, that also means I'm not scared of Satan -- does that make me a Christian Atheist?) ;-p

Of course it's a myth that atheists are afraid of god and hate religion. Christians make that up to validate their own beliefs to themselves.

Believers are always trying to construct a framework of beliefs as part of the straw man they create to represent atheism. It's absurd-I just disbelieve in God-there are no other issues or beliefs involved.
