I met someone several months ago online. We have been talking nonstop over the phone, email, etc.I could really see a future with this person, and believe the feeling is mutual.Problem is...... This person is the head of a big company, Which is not the problem. The problem is.. I cannot find his company nor any mention of him online. Not to mention, I did a background search through several uk search engines and cannot even find any trace of his name or company name. Of course it sounds as if I already know thie answer to my own question. The problem is , against my better judgment I doubt he is lying. Are there any free or paid sites in the uk london, greater london area. That would help me find some information about ths?.Or some websites so that I can possibly look up his business?I have esxhausted all my efforts and spent several hours online trying to find something.Any information would be appreciated. Please do not reply, just to tell me he is lying.I think we covered that he may be!

If his company is a large one then he would doubtless be listed in a directory of some kind (as businesses do not become large without advertising), and also at Companies House (a legal requirement). You don't say if you have physically met this person yet. Whether you believe him is not really relevant- you don't actually trust him so perhaps you need to look at why you are so willing to consider investing your future in such a person. Proceed with extreme caution...

Tell him. Just say - "Hey - I tried to check out your company on the internet and couldn't find it anywhere. What's the web address - I want to read about it and what you do! Is your picture on there?" And then see what he says. If this is someone with whom you could really see a future - a question like that is not out of line. Maybe you're spelling the name of the company wrong. Or - maybe - like you said - he's lying. Being upfront about it will get you your answer. I hope it works out!

I'd follow my gut on this one. If it doesn't add up, drop him. I met a guy who supposedly just returned from serving 20 years in the military. He said he was 35, which means he was 15 when he went in. He said he had a 22 year old son and a 21 year old daughter who were both away at college, and he was divorced. So he had one kid at 13 and one at 14? Ok...hypothetically maybe possible if he lied about his age to get into the military. However, he "had his car for many years and just moved back to our state." Our state issues license plates in alphabetical/numerical order, and the series plate he had on his car was about 5 years old. Got him! Dropped him like a lead ball.

Try checking Companies House, all UK companies that are VAT registered are listed there. You can search for a company for free but I think if you need more information you have to pay.
I hope your trust in his is not misplaced. Good luck with your search :-)

You could try the local centre for business support or chamber of commerce - they have lists of all the companies registered in their area. I take it you have already tried yell.com, thompson local and all the other stuff like that. You could ask him for his business address, saying you want to send him a present or something like that, then check out the address. Depending on the type of company they may have a governing body or ombudsman e.g. estate agents, insurance brokers etc.
Good luck!

Have you tried http://www.companieshouse.gov.uk ?
Use their WebCheck service to search for the company by name or number. If it exists, you can download information about it, like the annual return (directors' names and addresses are on it) and the latest accounts. Each report costs £1 but the search is free.
I think you're right to be circumspect. If he really is who he says he is, there would be some trace of him on Google by now.

I still have a lot of friends in the UK that could help, if you message me with the details I could find out for you. I've had my share of people lying to me online, isn't pleasant.

Try www.b4usearch.com you will need to know his surname and his location. then you should be able to find his address and home phone number.... That is unless he has requested it be removed from the website.....
Be careful.....
www.b4usearch.com
And its free, the data protection agency tried to ban it..... so use it before they get rid of it...
