Yes, you can take cold medication. Just stay away from anything that contains pseudoephedrine. Wellbutrin and stimulants like that do not mix. Call another pharmacist. Just say, "I'm on Wellbutrin and I need to know what cold medication I can take with that." If you are on any other medications, tell them that, too. Don't stress about this. Here is more info on the medication. http://www.pdrhealth.com/drug_info/rxdrugprofiles/drugs/wel1488

Bupropion HCL is the generic name for Wellbutrin.
Wellbutrin is not an MAOI, it's an MRI or multiple reuptake inhibitor, which primarily focuses on modulating your dopamine neurotransmitters and slightly with your norepinephrine.
Since Wellbutrin metabolizes three times in your liver, you should always run any OTC meds by your Dr. for permission; especially nsaids (non-steroid anti-inflamitory drugs) like ibuprofen or aspirin, which also metabolize heavliy in the liver.
Since your taking generic Wellbutrin, I would suggest switching to the brand vs. generic. Ask your doc about Wellbutrin XL, which is a once a day tab and minimizes your exposure to seizures and possible side effects.
As far as your doc being on vacation; they will have someone covering that you can speak with.
Hope this helps.

The answer to your question is no...
Bupropion is a selective catecholamine reuptake inhibitor. It has only a small effect on serotonin reuptake. It does not inhibit MAO.
But do not take Bupropion if are you are taking any other MAOI, or if you have stopped taking an MAOI in the last 14 days. This is very important.
As far as taking any over-the-counter cold meds, you should be fine.

Buproprion is not a MAOI. You should have no problems taking OTC cold medications.
MAOIs went out of favor because of how many side effects it does have.

No, it's an SSRI. MAOI's are not commonly prescribed because it's difficult for many people to follow the dietary restrictions. If you're taking it for depression or anxiety and you smoke cigarettes and want to quit now is the time. It greatly reduces the withdrawal symptoms. That's an added bonus in addition to it's antidepressant effects.

No it's not a MAOI, you can take OTC medications with it. I'm on it and I haven't had a problem. I just wouldn't reccommend taking any "PM" medications (Tylonel PM, Nyquil], they make you sleep waay too long.

No it is not, so don't worry about the need to check food interactions.....Call your pharmacist and talk to them about the medication, they will be happy to explain all the side effects and what you need to look for.....I take it and have no problems what so ever........
