Guess what? These "nothing outstanding" houses in Malibu are not about size--it's about location, location, location! There's no house under a million--even houses not near the beach.

The average Malibu single family home is 2.5 Million. And DUMP!?
Malibu is pretty much one of the CLEANEST towns in Los Angeles.
Go see South Central. Or East L.A. Or Hollywood. That's where the real slums/"dumps" are.

Charmless? Not to the numerous movie stars---Mel Gibson, Britney Spears, Charlize Theron, Sting, Barbara Streisand, etc.

What do you really expect from Malibu? City life? It's a small beach community.

And there are houses that are not "crammed" together.

I agree. I can't see what the attraction is. It's crammed together houses blocking the ocean with some tatty Olde Seafood Eateries overcharging you for the privilege of dining on their smelly patio. And the beach is about 100 feet wide-- IF you can find public access.

Most of California is a big myth. I lived there my whole life and right now, it is mostly an overpopulated cesspool.
