Check with his pediatrician
All kids are different and grow at different rates.
from volunteering at the hospital I've seen some kids walk without assistance before 1 while some still need assistance at 18 months.

My daughter was walking before her first birthday but my son was around the 15 month mark when he did! Every child is different. And they do say boys are more lazy than girls! Just encourage him to walk holding on to your hands or something! I know its a back breaker but it may help him along! I wouldnt be too concerned at the moment? Is he having problems with any other part of his development?

Your son is fine. He is just taking his time in walking, but sooner or later you'll be wishing that he was not. I was 8 months old when I walked, my eldest was 11 months old, my youngest was 14 months old and I have a niece that didn't get on her feet until she was 22 months old. So, as you can see there's no ONE age that a child should be walking. He must be content to stay on his butt, so just leave him to learn as he wants to. Again, before you know it, you'll be forever wishing he were back on his butt, not running around getting into things....LOL.

Some are late walkers; however, you should probably get him tested for sensory integration and motor skill difficulties. Is the child talking? If your child doesn't talk and is experiencing walking problems, as well, then I'd recommend testing for Autism.

Good luck!

Michelle

PS.. You can usually get him tested by a licensed Occupational Therapist.

No, just get him a walker. Some babies are later than others.
Just hold the babys hands and help him walk.
