Caffeine has no calories.

Red wines will vary depending upon the type - Chardonnay does not have a lot, but Port does.

Caffeine has no calories at all, it burns calories because of the energy it gives you, increasing metabolism, unless you add cream and sugar. That is not to say it is good for you, it causes other problems, but it doesn't have calories. Red wine has sugar and if consumed in abundance and not burned off can cause weight gain, and other problems as well.

Caffeine is a diuretic - you should drink a glass of water alongside each full cup of coffee. other then that - it's not going to make you gain weight and has zero calories (depending on your milk and sugar content).

Red wine has minimal calories - about 50 calories an ounce or 2. Drink in moderation.

BOTH have Anti Oxidants!

First there dear, caffeine has no calories at all, its all the sugar and cream crap people put in coffee or reb bull that does. Second red wine has a few, but if both are used well, ie. caffeine high, red wine 1/day, they actually have properties to help lose fat.

See the other answers about the calories. The fact that middle aged people gain weight has more to do with metabolism changes as you grow older -- and changes in lifestyle. They tend to slow down as the aches and pains set in, exercise less, work too hard and more, usually at sedentary jobs. Also, many of them need to take medications at that stage in life and many medications have a side affect of causing weight gain (I know, I gained 20 lbs from one of mine -- luckily I was able to lose it again when they switched me to something else!!). A good weight should be able to be maintained all through life with proper attention and exercise.

No, actually both, in moderation, are good for you.

I drink three cups of coffee each morning, a diet pepsi in the afternoon, and wine with dinner.

I'm 51 years old, 6'2" tall, and I weigh 192 lbs...people ask me who I do it...I tell them "Everything in moderation."

I would stay away from caffeine if you can, but red wine in moderation is fine!
