I haven't visited Yokota Air Base in a while but all military housing generally comes with basic furniture (bed, couch, etc). It's all pretty utilitarian, though. If you're dying for your LazyBoy or other large American furniture (the Japanese generally don't make furniture for tall or larger-than-the-average-Japanese type folk), you can look into the JCPENNEY catalog at the Base Exchange or plan to pay for shipping your furniture.

If you are missing basic household goods or need referrals for buying stuff, you can go to the base exchange or ask if Family Services can supply you with the basics. The USO here in the U.S. may be a good resource for you as well.

Check out the newcomers section of the Yokota Air Base website. It looks pretty helpful. They even tell you how many chairs you'll get.

Oh, and don't forget to check out the Stars and Stripes classifieds or various announcement boards around the base for household goods. With everyone so mobile, folks are often trying to get rid of their stuff (usually in good shape, too) all year around- new cars, motorcycles, boats, couches, clothes, baby stuff - you name it.

I've visted there. As far as I can remember, the housing is very western. So are the temporary housing areas. There is almost nothing oriental about it. The Japanese over there have a positive attitude towards the Americans (at least to me because I was with my family). Just try not to go off base during the night. I've heard a lot of bad stuff goes on then. As for your cell phone, I don't know. And for your mattress, that is totally up to you. I moved mine.
