Here is how my routine works with a almost 5 year old little girl.
6 am. We wake up, eat breakfast and get dressed and ready for school. Leave here at 8 am and I get home from dropping her off right around 9am. I make a pot of coffee watch the news quick and start a load of laundry, and I start in the living room making my way throughout the house picking up toys and things that are not where they should be. Than I vacuum and dust and move on to the next room. Each room does not get done everyday depending on what is going on. Than around 3 pm I leave to go pick her up and we get home and I make dinner. I always clean up the kitchen after eating and run the dishwasher. Than it is bath time, story time and than bedtime by 7 pm. Than I pick up the rest of the little things around here so there is not so much to do in the morning. I would start by going throughout he stuff you do not need/use everyday and get a box for it and put it away. It is hard to organize when stuff is not in its place. Once you get that done and you have out the things you use daily. It will be smooth sailing for you. Good Luck, and after all that is done you will be able to have some time for yourself..

Too big of a house with too much stuff. Time to down-size. Throw out whatever you don't need (or donate it), make kids keep stuff only in their rooms or play room & do a once over every day & deep cleaning 1x week. Pick one room a day. Monday-kitchen, Wed-family room, etc...No one eats anywhere except kitchen table. Make rule, if you use it then put it back, throw away or clean it.
I have 5 sons & 4 step kids. Four are still here at home & I was a cleaning lady outside of the home for many years. I've learned a few tricks here & there, but these are some of the best. Good luck!

mmhhh! it never ends does it. I only have one child and she is a little tornado that wrecks my house everyday. There is no way to really stop them from making a mess but you can get them to help you pick it up. make a game out of it. Start a chore chart w/ fun stickers and at the end of the week give them a treat like renting a movie and ordering out or fixing at home there faves to eat. The ones that got the most done on there chores gets to pick what to eat and the 2nd runner up gets to pick the DVD. But most important have fun and spend time with them don't sweat the small stuff. Good Luck.

I don't know what else to tell you except that one day your children will be grown and gone and you will wish you spent more time with them instead of worrying about keeping a perfect house! Have you ever heard the saying, "Home should be clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy." ? Think about it.
