Note that there is little correlation between oil level and oil pressure. doyoufeel is correct, do what he says. If you have the oil pressure checked, and is normal, the problem is probably the oil pressure sender. If you had a '95 Neon with 250,000 miles on it, I would be more likely to think engine/pump wear. Since your car is newer, I would vote for an electrical problem. Nevertheless do have the pressure checked - immediately.

You probably have low oil pressure, You need to get a oil pressure gage put on to tell the actual oil pressure. Usually engine wear is the problem, excessive clearance in the bearings allows oil to leak by and reduces pressure. usually replacing the pump does not help much. Main bearings, rod bearings and cam bearings all leak internally where you can't see them. more wear equals bigger gaps and more oil leakage. Cooler temperatures and heavier oil help. You may get by with a high viscosity 50 weight for a while. You will destroy what is left of your engine if you don't do anything.

It could be a bad oil pressure sensor or even a bad oil pump. Have the oil pressure checked to make sure the oil pump is working properly. Just change the oil pressure switch if the oil pump is working properly.

check your oil level right away before driving any more if you don't know how chances are some one you know around you will know how. the oil light is only suppose to come on when the oil is very low and if the oil level is fine and your car runs ok it is most likely a bad sensor what could cost a arm and a leg to fix but it wont hurt your car if you don't fix it

did the oil get low at any point in the past? if so, the computer read the low oil code, and stored it in the ecu. if so, you'll need to have the car plugged into a scanner and reset the computer to get the light to go off. i had this happen to my 99 neon expresso.

check the oil pressure sending unit, it is probably leaking through the wiring harness and oil is seeping up the wire, you will probably have to replace the sending unit an possibly slice in a new harness end, they are available through the dealer. I have preformed this repair numerous time.
