This bike is only about $200+ which is pretty inexpensive for a mountain bike. It feels pretty solid although I can't tell how it will hold out on trails.

I am wondering the same thing! I am trying to find out information about this Schwinn Impact - mountain bike (green).
I know in Consumer Reports there are other Schwinn models that they recommend as comfort bikes, but don't know about this one.

I had a Schwinn MOS Impact 21 speed back in Junior high, in the late 80's. It was a GREAT bike, really tough, and I wrecked it tons and it kept right along! Never in the shop except for tune ups.
I'd go for it.

I've also been trying to find some info on this bike, it doesn't appear on the schwinn homepage and all the other impacts are very old.
This is very frustrating.

As a matter of fact i do know about the bike in which you queston. I bought it from Costco in Cypress, CA about a week ago. I intend to use it to go mountain biking with. Also, a tad bit of trail riding as well. However, i am told that if i really want to do serious mountain bike riding i should return it and but one with DISC brakes intead of the traditional brakes on the rims. Just let me know what exactly i can help you with. I belive we're on the same page when it comes to finding information online. I haven't found a thing.
